It's been a year since....

I opened the doors to my litlle shop at 256 Durie Street and what an amazing experience it's been! Although I have been making jewelry since I was 18, it took some time, courage and faith to guide me toward this new adventure.

I came upon the space shortly after we moved to the west end of Toronto and it was love at first sight!!! I thought to myself : " I would love to have this space one day". Well, be careful what you wish for because a couple of months later there was a notice in the window by the previous owner saying her goodbyes to her valued customers and suddenly, there it was...

I signed the lease before I had enough inventory to open a store but I worked, worked and worked some more. I found in the process that I am most creative when I am under pressure anyway.

So when we opened on October 24th 2009, there was no turning back. I had decided to put myself out there, follow my life long dream and I was going to make this work no matter what. The universe seemed to respond to my musings, my wishes. I needed to be careful however about  the manner in which these wishes were articulated...

I hope this blog will be a way to chronicle my journey, my growing pains and the many joys of the creative process. I am a relatively private person so this is definitely going to be stepping outside my comfort zone but I am up to the challenge:-). I would  love this space to also be a place where ideas and insights are shared. So feel free to send your comments and let me know what you would like more of or what inspires you. I will post pictures of things, places, words and people who inspire me, images of works in progress, pictures of the shop as I work to turn it into a beautiful storefront AND a fully functional jewelry studio (not an easy task given that the space is about 115 square feet!).

It's been a wonderful year, thanks to all the support I have received from the very beginning from you, a welcoming and kind community of clients, staff, family and friends. I am incredibly excited however about 2011 which will see many fabulous changes and designs that you will hopefully love. So let the adventure begin or should I say continue.  I do hope you will join me on this journey ...

Love always.
