April Snow....

As I get ready to add the finishing touches on my Spring/Summer Collection, we get an extraordinary blanket of snow (10 cm, mind you) on the ground yesterday. There is no point complaining about it when it is so beautiful....

Yes indeed I feel lucky ... I feel inspired...

I think I will call it "The April Snow Necklace"

The Year of the Joyful Heart

Our In-store Board this Month

With the boutique's first anniversary under my belt, I want this new year to be a little bit less stressful. I dream of simplicity but with the right amount of attention to details still, in the way I live my life and my art. It is funny how the business of creating a life long dream can be overshadowed by the worries of staying in business sometimes. So a bit of balance would be quite wonderful!

I want this year to be the Year of the Heart for me, a joyful heart. I want to own my Truth and live in the Now with Authenticity. Heavy duty stuff, I know. Not an easy task, for sure. A commitment worth pursuing, definitely.

So how do I get out of my head, out of my own way even and let my creativity flow freely from the heart into my fingers without constantly worrying about the bottomline? How do I silence the voice of doubt and the naysayers and stay the course ? It is a challenge I embrace and look forward to. I suspect Love, Forgiveness and a bucket load of Joy will lead the way :-)!

Happy Friday!!!

Love always,

A little bit of Vintage...

I have always loved vintage brooches and I have been thinking about incorporating them in some of my designs. This selection of my latest acquisitions looks so beautiful on the lovely yellow dresser I mentioned in my previous post! I can't wait to start working with these.

Best Wishes for 2011!!!

Bonne et Heureuse Année 2011 !!!

I hope everyone has had a splendid holiday! And now that we are halfway through January, I am sure we are all busy planning and working on our dreams for 2011. I certainly am!

After my first post, I got so busy with special orders for Christmas and New Year’s Eve that it’s been really tough getting back on track with the blog, but I am so excited about this New Year that there will be plenty to post about in the coming weeks.

From the first day I opened the boutique I wanted to set up a space to work onsite. Clients would often ask where I worked, where was my studio? I have always worked out of my studio space in my home but if you are going to call your boutique, a jewellery studio it would be great to be able to have an onsite space that allows your clients to witness part of the process.

Bear with me bellas, it is a work in progress... but after reworking the floorplan a bit, I must say that my atelier-boutique is coming along fabulously. So let me introduce you to my wonderful little working studio. All that's missing is Mathilda, my torch! I know, I know it is so organised and clean ! Well I must keep it that way as much as I can, given that it is in the boutique. Besides, George my teacher and mentor would kill me if he saw it in any other way!!! What do you think, should I let my lovely tools stay? Please say yes, I even got a lovely yellow dresser to hide a multitude of sins !!! More photos to come :-).

Love always.

It's been a year since....

I opened the doors to my litlle shop at 256 Durie Street and what an amazing experience it's been! Although I have been making jewelry since I was 18, it took some time, courage and faith to guide me toward this new adventure.

I came upon the space shortly after we moved to the west end of Toronto and it was love at first sight!!! I thought to myself : " I would love to have this space one day". Well, be careful what you wish for because a couple of months later there was a notice in the window by the previous owner saying her goodbyes to her valued customers and suddenly, there it was...

I signed the lease before I had enough inventory to open a store but I worked, worked and worked some more. I found in the process that I am most creative when I am under pressure anyway.

So when we opened on October 24th 2009, there was no turning back. I had decided to put myself out there, follow my life long dream and I was going to make this work no matter what. The universe seemed to respond to my musings, my wishes. I needed to be careful however about  the manner in which these wishes were articulated...

I hope this blog will be a way to chronicle my journey, my growing pains and the many joys of the creative process. I am a relatively private person so this is definitely going to be stepping outside my comfort zone but I am up to the challenge:-). I would  love this space to also be a place where ideas and insights are shared. So feel free to send your comments and let me know what you would like more of or what inspires you. I will post pictures of things, places, words and people who inspire me, images of works in progress, pictures of the shop as I work to turn it into a beautiful storefront AND a fully functional jewelry studio (not an easy task given that the space is about 115 square feet!).

It's been a wonderful year, thanks to all the support I have received from the very beginning from you, a welcoming and kind community of clients, staff, family and friends. I am incredibly excited however about 2011 which will see many fabulous changes and designs that you will hopefully love. So let the adventure begin or should I say continue.  I do hope you will join me on this journey ...

Love always.
